How to Use Candle Pearls

The LPCC Method
Step 1: Choose Your Container

Use a heat-safe container, such as glass or ceramic. Our refillable jars are designed to work perfectly with Candle Pearls, but other suitable containers can also be used.

Always ensure the container doesn’t become excessively hot during use and keep the candle away from decorations or flammable materials.

Step 2: Add your wax pearls

Pour the wax pearls into your container, leaving a little space at the top.

Step 3: Add fragrance (optional)

Our fragrance oils are 100% concentrated, so a little goes a long way.

We recommend using no more than 10ml of fragrance oil per 100g of wax pearls.

Adding more fragrance won’t make the candle smell stronger — it causes the candle to burn hotter and faster, which reduces both scent performance and burn time.

For best results, drizzle fragrance evenly over the wax and allow it to warm gradually as the candle burns.

Step 4: Insert the wick

Place the wick upright in the centre of the wax pearls. No fixing, melting or preparation is required.

Each wick we supply has been carefully chosen to work in balance with our wax and fragrance oils.

Step 5: Light and enjoy

Light the wick and allow the candle to establish a steady flame. Fragrance will build gently as the wax warms.

You can choose how to use your candle by following one of the LPCC Methods:

Step 6: After burning

Once the candle has cooled:

  • Remove the used wick
  • Discard only the wax that has melted and burned

  • Any unused pearls remain reusable

Simply top up with fresh wax, add a new wick, and repeat.

One candle system. Three techniques. Complete control — that’s the LPCC Method.

Three ways to use one refillable candle system

Technique 1:

The Slow Build

For long burn time and a gentle, background fragrance

The Slow Build is designed for extended, all-day burning with a soft, evolving scent.

Begin with lightly scented or unscented wax and allow the candle to establish a steady, calm flame. Fragrance can be added sparingly once the wax is warm, but the key is restraint — the scent develops gradually as the candle burns rather than all at once.

This technique prioritises longevity and atmosphere, allowing fragrance to gently permeate your space over time.

Best for:

  • working from home
  • all-day burning
  • subtle, calming fragrance

Technique 2:

The Ambient Boost

For a noticeable fragrance with a balanced burn

The Ambient Boost is ideal when you want your space to smell beautiful without sacrificing burn quality.

Allow the candle to burn until a small melt pool forms, then add fragrance oil evenly to the warm wax. This gently warms the fragrance, helping it disperse into the room while maintaining a clean, controlled burn.

Once added, let the candle burn steadily without topping up mid-burn.

Best for:

  • evenings and living spaces
  • entertaining
  • a clear but well-balanced scent

Technique 3:

The Mood Switch

For changing fragrances or refreshing a space

The Mood Switch is designed for flexibility.

Use a light fragrance addition and a shorter burn session when you’d like to refresh a room or change scent. Once the candle has cooled, remove the used wick and discard only the wax that has melted. Any unused pearls around the edge remain reusable.

This technique makes it easy to switch fragrances without committing to a long burn or wasting unused wax.

Best for:

  • changing scents between days
  • quick fragrance refreshes
  • variety without commitment

Burning & Resetting Your Candle Pearls — What to Expect

Candle Pearls are designed to melt and reset cleanly, but they’re still wax — like any candle — so the way they burn affects how easily they refresh.

When Candle Pearls are lit, the areas around the wick melt and can set solid as they cool. If the melted wax pool becomes deep, the wax around the wick can feel firmer to lift out than you might expect. That’s normal and part of how the system works.

To make resetting as smooth as possible and avoid excess wax buildup, follow these simple tips.

How to Burn Candle Pearls for Easier Resetting

  • Limit burn time to 2–3 hours per session. Shorter burn times help create a shallower melt pool, making cleanup and resetting much easier.
  • Use containers at least 7 cm wide.  Wider containers allow the wax to melt evenly and reduce areas of hard set wax.
  • Keep the wick centred. This helps avoid deep tunnelling around the wick.
  • Allow the wax to cool completely before resetting. Never attempt to remove or reset while warm — always wait until the wax is fully set.

How to Reset After Burning

  • Let the wax cool fully. The candle must be completely cool to reset.
  • Lift out the solidified wax. In most cases, the set wax will lift cleanly from the edges of the container.
  • If the base feels firm, gently warm the exterior bottom edge. For stubborn bases, briefly warm the bottom of the jar with your fingers or warm water for a few seconds — this loosens the solid wax without heat inside the jar.
  • Add fresh Candle Pearls and a new wick. Reset, select your fragrance and relight.

There’s no need to scrape intensely or dig — gentle warming and patience will help the base release cleanly.

Why This Happens

Unlike solid block candles, Candle Pearls allow you to change scents and reset between burns. The melted wax around the wick becomes solid again as it cools — this is expected and part of the refillable system.

When the melt pool is shallow (as above), resetting is quick and clean. Following the tips above makes this process feel effortless.

Safety Guidelines for Peace of Mind

  1. Luxury Pearled Candles, when used as directed, offer enhanced safety compared to traditional candles.
  2. Maintain a pearl buffer of 2 inches around and 1 inch below the wick. This safety layer allows the candle to self-extinguish, avoiding container overheating or accidents.
  3. Follow standard fire safety practices:
    • Avoid burning near flammable materials.
    • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
    • Place away from drafts and flammable objects.
  4. Our pearls are non-toxic, yet not edible. Avoid eye contact to prevent irritation.
  5. Remember, it's real fire. Review and adhere to all safety instructions provided. Use responsibly and at your own risk!
